Check out our review of the 36th La Liga round, as we list the top three things we learned from the latest action in Spain’s first division.

Gameweek 36 was on the program in La Liga over the past weekend, as the Spanish Championship moves towards the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

We saw only 19 goals in 10 games, only one of which ended in a draw. The hosts noted four victories, while the visitors earned the three points in five matches.

Some of the results proven to be crucial for the current league standings and in case you missed this weekend’s La Liga action, Ronaldo.com is here to list the top three things learned from the 36th round for you.

Real Madrid put one hand on the trophy

A 2-1 victory over Granada on the road, secured vital three points for Real Madrid in their bid for a record 34th La Liga crown.

The Whites are now only two points away from officially winning the title and they could do it with either one win or two draws.

They welcome Villarreal in the 37th Gameweek of the season and visit Leganes in the last round. It shouldn’t be a problem for Zinedine Zidane’s boys to meet their objective in these two games.

Lionel Messi sets another La Liga record

Lionel Messi provided the pass for Arturo Vidal’s winner at Valladolid last Saturday, noting his 20th assist for the 2019-20 season.

With this achievement, the Barcelona captain became the first-ever player to register 20+ goals and assists in a single La Liga campaign.

He is also the first footballer to achieve these numbers in the top five European Leagues, since Thierry Henry did so in the 2002-03 season, while playing at Arsenal.

Atletico and Sevilla to play in the Champions League

The race for a Champions League football is done and dusted, with Atletico Madrid and Sevilla officially booking their place in the most elite football competition next season.

They won their games against Betis and Mallorca respectively, while fifth-placed Villarreal lost 2-1 to Sociedad at home, to fall nine points beihnd the duo.

With only two games to go and six points available, the Yellow Submarine has no chance of reaching a place in top for at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
