Christine Sinclair is now international football’s all-time leading scorer with a goal tally greater than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi combined.
Canadian female footballer Christine Sinclair is now the stand-alone all-time leading international goal scorer.
The Canadian footballing legend was tied with the USA’s Abby Wambach on 184. That was until in an Olympic qualifier she bagged number 185.
After the game against St.Kitts, which Canada won by a resounding 11-0, the player was more concerned with her team’s success than her personal records and achievements.
Speaking to Canadian outlet walkthered.com, she was happy with a job well done and insisted the focus should be on the team and not her.
“I just know how important this tournament is and how important the games are as we move on.”
“Obviously I’d like to get it over with [breaking the record] just because I don’t want it to be a focus for the team in the coming weeks.”
Congratulations to Christine Sinclair on a marvelous achievement!
