Lallana congratulates Liverpool teammates

Despite not making England’s World Cup squad, Adam Lallana has remained in high spirits and congratulated his Liverpool teammates Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold for making the team

The English midfielder has been absent for the majority of Liverpool’s campaign this season due to a set of recurring injury problems and was omitted from the final 23-man squad by Gareth Southgate.

Instead, both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fabian Delph were chosen with Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere also missing out on a place due to his own injury problems.

Lallana’s uncapped teammate Alexander-Arnold, who is likely going to start for Liverpool in their Champions League final against Real Madrid this month, was the surprise choice for the World Cup squad.

But Lallana congratulated both the 19-year-old and club captain Henderson for making the final team for Russia.

“Congratulations to everyone selected for the England World Cup squad today,” he wrote on Instagram.

Virgil van Dijk not panicking over Liverpool’s defeat

Virgil van Dijk doesn't think Liverpool's Champions League defeat to Napoli should serve as a "wake-up call" given how they've performed this season.

“Obviously particularly delighted for Hendo [Jordan Henderson] and Trent [Alexander-Arnold]… two lads who prove that being down to earth off the pitch doesn’t stop you being a star on it.

“And Trent… take the lead from the skip and tuck that shirt in laa [sic].”
