Frank Lampard is aware that Jorginho might have been feeling left out lately and assures that he has not lost faith in the midfielder.
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho enjoyed a regular starting role at the beginning of this campaign but his playing time has been seriously limited post-lockdown.
Jorginho is yet to start a single match after the return of football and his only appearance since came as a late substitute during the 3-2 win against Crystal Palace on Tuesday.
Lack of action has seen speculations linking him with a move to Juventus intensify in recent times. It is said that Maurizio Sarri sees him as a solution to Juve’s midfield woes and is keen on reuniting with him this summer.
Ahead of the match against Sheffield United, Frank Lampard explained the Italian’s reduced game time while stressing that he is still a pivotal member in the Chelsea squad.
As reported by Sky Sports, Lampard told: “I have selection issues in midfield. There are always players who are maybe unhappy or have moments out of the team and that’s Jorginho at the moment.
“If a player is missing for one game or a few games, it doesn’t mean in any way that they are out of my thoughts going forward.
“There have been times when he has been pivotal for me this year certainly on and off the pitch. That doesn’t change and I am very happy with him.”
