Frank Lampard has admitted that he set a project for Mateo Kovacic to score more goals.
Chelsea faced Valencia in the Group F fixture in the group stage of the Champions League. The match ended in a draw as both teams remain unsure of a direct qualification to the next round.
Mateo Kovacic put his side on the front foot with an excellent strike from outside the box last night against Valencia. The goal was the first that the Croatian scored in the Chelsea shirt.
It took the former Real Madrid man 71 matches before he could put his name on the scoresheet. But manager Frank Lampard insisted that he has been working on Kovacic’s finishing abilities for a while now.
“It’s a project for me, for him and for the whole staff to get him more goals, and he could have scored two,” he continued.
“I’m delighted for him and I hope that’s the start of something new,” the Chelsea manager expressed.
