After reaching the FA Cup’s next round on Wednesday, Frank Lampard praised all of his Derby County players for eliminating Southampton.

Turns out that Frank Lampard’s magic didn’t stop when his Derby County eliminated Jose Mourinho from the FA Cup, the Rams played this Wednesday against Southampton and also took the Saints all the way to the penalty kicks.

With goals by Armstrong and Redmond at St. Mary’s Stadium during the second half, the locals believed they had secured the next round ticket but they had another thing coming as the Rams were determined to get back in the game.

Goals from Wilson and Waghorn during the last 15 minutes of the game made sure that we got another round of those dreaded penalty shots and the drama was served for a thrilling end of the match.

As Derby County had already practiced this part just in case the same thing happened again, all the players took their shots with confidence and not a single one of them failed his opportunity.

Unfortunately for the Saints, Redmond did fail the second shot and this was more than enough for Derby County to get that next round trip in the FA Cup in order to keep the dream alive.

After the match ended, Frankie Lampard wanted to praise each and everyone of his players for their effort, as he keeps them afloat to continue on this very first season as a professional manager.

Lampard was overly excited for a new victory, as he should be.

“It takes a lot to come back against Premier League opposition and show that fight,” Lampard said via BBC Sport.

“They made me proud. At 2-0 down it was easy to give up and they didn’t. I’ve got a really good dressing room with great characters. They wanted to play, to run when fatigue kicks in and we thoroughly deserved to win the game.”

Top 5 best moments in Paul Pogba’s professional career

Time to talk about Paul Pogba and the already incredible career he's had in football, we'll list the Top 5 moments of his career...

“I’m delighted for Richard Keogh. Everyone at this club knows how important he is, the club means so much to him. He asked to take one. I know he’s got quality, he is a man of strength, the sort of man you want to take that.”

“A big thank you to the fans because it’s half past 10 when the game finished. They’re going to get back to Derby at whatever time and they’re probably working on Thursday too so a big thanks to them because they helped us get over the line,” he added.

The squad that Frank Lampard has been coaching for this season has very few similarities with the way in which Jose Mourinho managed his squads, the Portuguese manager is arguably one of the most influential figures in Lampard’s career.

The thing that does resemble Mourinho’s squads is that competitive spirit that Frank has managed to give all his players, they proved it when they played Manchester United and they also did it this Wednesday by not giving up until the very last minute.

Maybe this momentum doesn’t continue until the end of the season for Derby County and the English manager, but he has already left a great impression on any major club that could be looking to get their hands on a fresh talent who is barely starting his career.

Possible Chelsea is still far away in the horizon, but another Premier League squad could actually be a good option for Frank Lampard to start his career in top-flight football.

This is just the start of an exciting career for the Chelsea legend, hopefully he can keep growing and find the same success that he met when he was a player.
