Aymeric Laporte is out for ‘three weeks, more or less’ after Pep Guardiola confirmed ahead of City’s Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa.

Laporte has had bad luck with injuries this season and that looked to continue as the defender suffered his latest setback.

The 25-year-old was forced off in the first half of City’s Champions League victory at Real Madrid in midweek. He only just returned from injury in that fixture.

The highly rated defender has only played seven league games totaling 526 minutes in an underwhelming campaign for him.

And now, Laporte is set to even miss out on more game-time and could face up to one month out as confirmed by Guardiola.

“He has a hamstring injury, three weeks out more or less, a month,” Guardiola said on Friday via BBC.

“Unfortunately this happens after four or five months out.”

That would mean Laporte would have missed half of the season combined due to injuries. If his poor luck continues, City might have to look for a stable replacement in the summer.
