UD Las Palmas manager Paco Jémez is determined for his side to play against Barcelona without any fear and has called for the fans to give their all as they look to cause an upset
Las Palmas are currently in the regulation zone this season after a difficult season which could mean the end of their first spell at the top tier league in Spain, having been promoted for the first time back in 2015.
They have demonstrated an improvement in form of late and have managed to keep 3 clean sheets in their last four games and have now moved to within one point of 17th place Levante.
Heading into Thursday nights La Liga against the league leaders Barcelona, Jémez’s side are expected to lose rather heavily against a free-scoring Barcelona side. But the coach is determined that his side will play the Catalan giants without any fear and will stick to their principles.
“I won’t do anything weird, I don’t want any changes other than to keep improving. We will stick to our guns in the way we play” revealed Jémez, according to the club website.
The Spaniard also referred to their opponents as one of the best in history, but has faith that his side can beat them.
“One of the best teams in history, I always expect the best of our rivals but I will put out a team that I believe will be able to beat them”, and added “my goal is to win”.
“We need to look at this match as a kind of reward, we are facing a great team and it provides a great chance to show what we can do because they will make it extremely hard for us. There can be no more debate about my players’ attitude because I can show with statistics that they really go for it out on the pitch” said Jémez
“We need to make history all together. I would love to see the Estadio Gran Canaria packed out and the fans getting right behind us” Jémez concluded.
