Newcastle United’s skipper Jamaal Lascelles has warned Liverpool to brace up for a tough encounter ahead of their clash at St James’ Park on Saturday.
The Reds will be hoping to erase the memories of their defeat to Barca in the Champions League and pile up the pressure on Man City with a win.
But the Magpies captain believes there wouldn’t be any respite for Klopp’s men as they aim to finish the season on a high at St James’ Park.
Despite securing their Premier League safety a fortnight ago, Lascelles remained adamant Rafa Benitez’ Anfield connections will count for nothing on Saturday.
And history shows they save the best till last with thumping home wins in May against Chelsea and Tottenham in the past three years.
“Last season, we beat Chelsea 3-0 so we do normally finish off strong,” said Lascelles via Daily Star.
”Liverpool will obviously be playing for the title and will be flying.
“It won’t be like the Chelsea game where I think they were done and weren’t really playing well.
“But we’re going for the win and we want to keep going until the very last game of the season.”
Since January 2, Newcastle have won all but one of their league games on home soil, including a shock 2-1 victory over Manchester City.

So Lascelles knows Liverpool won’t be underestimating their opponents.
“We are going to make it tough for them and they probably know that themselves.
“It is not a nice fixture to come here, especially with our recent home form.”
