After a somewhat low-key debut season for Inter Milan, Lautaro has taken his game to a new level under Antonio Conte. His performances have marked him as one for the future. Therefore, Barcelona plan on making a bid soon.
The Catalan giants are on the lookout for a worthy successor to Luis Suarez, who celebrated his 33rd birthday in January. The Uruguayan’s injury problems have also made this more urgent.
But Inter hold no sympathy for Barcelona, with sporting director Piero Ausilio making it clear either they pay Lautaro’s €111m release clause or forget about him altogether. It leaves them in a tricky situation.

According to AS Diario, the Argentine’s buy-out clause is only active for the first two weeks of July. This may not be enough time for the club to gather enough funds. Especially after the hit they took from the coronavirus pandemic, which cost them valuable matchday profits.
They could try to lower the fee by offering some of their own players. Considering Inter’s desire to keep Lautaro, however, it seems unlikely the Nerazzurri will accept this proposal.
