Lazio defender Patric has insisted his Lazio side would not accept seeing the Serie A getting voided like the scenarios in France and Netherlands’ domestic leagues.
Lazio would not accept a decision to void the season, according to defender Patric.
Clubs in Serie A have already been allowed to resume training, on the basis that players do so individually and it meets strict health measures.
It remains to be seen whether the Serie A itself would resume proper but one can understand why Patric has already voiced out in that manner.
Juventus have boasted an eight-year dominance of the Serie A title but there is a strong hope that stronghold can be broken this year.
Lazio have surprised many by keeping the momentum at the top and are only one point behind Juve after 26 games.
Patric who has been a key squad member in the Lazio side believes his club are close to making history.
After beating both Inter and Juventus this season, it would be criminal to see all their hard effort taken from them, believes the defender.
“We are not afraid and, with the right precautions, have to get back on the field,” Patric told El Chiringuito de Jugones in an Instagram live chat as quoted by Football-Italia.
“Football is no different to any other business, we’ve been at home for two months now and want to get back to work. If everything else is returning to normality, why shouldn’t we?”
Asked on the possibility of voiding the season, Patric simply said his side won’t accept it.
“We wouldn’t accept it,” replied Patric. “This is a historic moment for Lazio, we are having a fantastic season. They can’t assign the title when it’s so tight and there are 12 games left to go.”
Meanwhile, Lazio’s owner recently suggested he would be open to a play-off with Juventus to determine the title if need be.
