It’s finally time to talk about what can be considered the biggest sports rivalry in history, the one between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Even though we love football and this rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, there really is no other football rivalry as great as this one.
But none of these rivalries can match the biggest of them all, we won’t find another one like this even if we go to other sports.
Muhammad Ali never had a rival who was just as great as him during his time, Tiger Woods is also unmatched, the same goes for Michael Phelps, Michael Jordan, Usain Bolt, or Tom Brady.
Perhaps only Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer can be compared to Messi and Ronaldo’s rivalry, but the one between the two footballers is way more legendary than any other we’ve ever experienced.
We can’t even begin to understand the importance that this rivalry will have in everybody’s lives, we truly are very fortunate to live in the same era of Messi and Ronaldo.
We can’t help but feel sorry for the ones who don’t enjoy football and missed the last ten years of this beautiful tale.
Not even David Fincher or Quentin Tarantino can come up with a script that can properly reflect these two players during their prime.
We witnessed a confrontation between the two greatest footballers ever, and how much they pushed each other to always improve.

Where it all started.
The first real year in which we could get a glimpse of this memorable last decade was in the 2006-07 season, this was the first time we understood that a rivalry was cooking.
We obviously never imagined the scope it would get, but we could already see both Messi and Ronaldo playing extraordinary football.
Cristiano presented himself at Manchester United, he also played a fantastic European Championship in 2004 as a teenager.
Messi came two years later with both Argentina and FC Barcelona, but his explosion didn’t come until 2007.
Watching the Ballon d’Or podium that year was the prelude of an unforgettable time with these two players.
Kaka won the trophy but we all knew that the best was yet to come from the other two players, the following season was where everything started.
Ronaldo was the one who won his first of five Ballon d’Or trophies. Messi followed suit in the 2008-09 season and he also had his first direct confrontation with Cristiano.
The 2009 final between FC Barcelona and Manchester United was where things really started to take a different meaning for both players.
Leo would go on to dominate the rivalry for the next four years, he won four consecutive Ballon d’Or trophies during that time and Ronaldo got increasingly frustrated because of that.
Greatest sports debate of our lifetime tbh, CR7 international success/multiple league success his biggest strength. Messi has identical numbers in 143 less games and more league trophies his biggest strength. I can't decide tbh. #Messi #Ronaldo #GOAT pic.twitter.com/K3MiAQmm2y

Ronaldo catches up and gets his revenge.
After so many years coming out in second place, it appears that life had the best stored for last in Ronaldo’s story.
His last five years have been truly special in his particular rivalry against Lionel Messi, the man won four out of the last six Ballon d’Or accolades.
Cristiano did surpass Messi in one aspect, he has won trophies with his national team. Leo on the other hand, hasn’t really lived up to the expectations that Argentina has deposited on him.
At this point in their career, most people have finally understood that comparing these two players is the worst mistake you can make.
There are a scenario and a reality in which people are allowed to love both players, there is no need to compare them both.
The ones who spent their whole lives trying to put one above the other have wasted their lived doing something really stupid.
Rather than enjoying what a great gift football has given us, they prefer to antagonize these two monsters because that’s what appeals to them the most.
We live in a world with over 7 billion people that is millions of years old, and we were specifically born in the era that Messi and Ronaldo are playing football at the same time.
We need to be grateful for this because they will retire soon enough and life won’t be the same again.
This Messi and Ronaldo debate it's my turn to put it to bed#Messi is great and the goat ONLY for/at Barca. Where again?#Ronaldo is great and the GOAT Everywhere. But I love watching messi😏
They both have numbers now it's down to ABILITY to PROVE urself out ur comfort zone pic.twitter.com/Axhx8wRsFE
