Leicester eye Togolese defender as Maguire replacement

The official statement has not even been released yet Leicester is trying to sign a new defender.

Djene Dakonam the Togolese defender at the heart of an amazing season at Spanish minnows Getafe.

According to Marca, he is on a number of teams radar. Including Leicester City.

Last year saw the small team based south of Madrid, defeat the odds and secure a place in the Europa League.

One of their biggest assets was the 27 year-old centre-back.

Who was immense in them having the second meanest defense in La Liga.

While being such a small club in comparison to their surrounding competitors. They are under no illusion they are a selling team.

However, Getafe president Angel Torres is extremely firm in his stance.

“Totally involuntary!” Modric claims Suarez stamp an accident

The sent-off Luka Modric insists his stamp on Denis Suarez was an "accidental action" after becoming the first victim of La Liga's new rules.

He said:

“Either teams pay Djene’s 35 million euro release clause or they will not be able to sign him.”

Leicester City is believed to be one of several teams who has got in contact with Getafe.

Money is not expected to be a problem for the Foxes given the price they just got for the outgoing Harry Maguire.

There is less than a week left for English clubs to conduct their transfer activity for this window at least.

It is not believed Leicester want to go until Christmas at least without defensive reinforcements.

If they move quickly and are determined they can bring Djene Dakonam to the King Power Stadium.
