RB Leipzig have announced that Marcel Sabitzer has signed a new four-year deal at the club, putting an end to speculation surrounding his future
The Austria international joined the Bundesliga side from Rapid Wien in 2014 and has become a prominent figure in the starting line-up at Leipzig over the years.
The Sabitzer’s original contract was set to expire in 2021, but Leipzig have now secured the midfielder’s services for an additional 12 months.
“I still feel very well at RB Leipzig, I also feel great trust here and I am pleased about the contract extension,” the 24 year-old told the club website.
“I am not yet at the end of my development and I want to continue to do my part to take the next step. I think that a lot is possible with RB Leipzig.”
The news will undoubtedly be welcomed at the Red Bull Arena with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side looking increasingly likely to lose star players Naby Keita, Timo Werner and Emil Forsberg, in the summer.
