Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has received messages of support from fellow goalkeepers following a nasty injury he suffered against Brighton.
The injury suffered by Bernd Leno was one of the major talking points in Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton on Saturday evening.
It was injury upon insult as the Arsenal goalkeeper had to be stretchered off and replaced by Emiliano Martinez towards the end of the first half.
Maupay was the villain as he nudged Leno in the air in what was completely a needless tackle.
The German goalkeeper landed awkwardly and couldn’t continue the match eventually. His anger was evident as the 28-year-old was visibly furious and pointing at Maupay as he was taken off the pitch.
Injuries in general are never great to see and some fellow goalkeepers have sent Leno a message of support wishing him a speedy recovery.
Fellow countryman Marc-Andre ter Stegen sent a message to his compatriot and wished him a safe recovery.
“I wish you a lot of strength and a good recovery! @berndleno1 💪👊,”the Barcelona ace posted on his Instagram account.
Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea put rivalries aside and also sent the Arsenal man a message of his own.
Legendary German goalkeeper and Arsenal legend Jens Lehmann also sent Leno a message of support of his own.
It remains to be seen how long Leno will be out for but it’s looking likely his season could be over for the Gunners. We wish him a speedy recovery too.
