Leonardo can’t confirm Kylian Mbappe’s renewal at PSG

In the second part of his interview with ‘Le Parisien’, Leonardo revealed that he can’t promise Kylian Mbappe will renew his contract with PSG.

It is already established that Kylian Mbappe will continue this season as a PSG player, but Leonardo just confirmed that his future is more uncertain than ever.

The current sporting director at Paris Saint-Germain spoke about Neymar possibly leaving this summer, he did it in an extended interview that he offered to ‘Le Parisien’.

We thought this would be the only information Leonardo would offer about the club’s biggest players, but we were so wrong…

Turns out that the interview was too long for a single article, which is why ‘Le Parisien’ decided to divide it into two different parts.

While the first one touched the Neymar subject in detail, the second one was completely dedicated to Kylian Mbappe’s future at PSG.

The youngster is dying to become a Real Madrid player as soon as possible, but he made the choice to play in Paris for at least one more season and then look at the options he has.

Reports from the Spanish media confirmed that Zidane spoke directly with Kylian and promised him Los Blancos would make an offer for him in 2020.

Leonardo’s statements from this Tuesday pretty much confirm this, as he refused to promise that Kylian Mbappe will renew his contract.

“There is no doubt that Kylian Mbappe is a priority for us,” said Leonardo to ‘Le Parisien’.

“He is with us and he is very important for the club, there is no debate about it. He came with an amazing attitude when the training resumed on Monday, always with a smile on his face.”

“He is a very charismatic individual, the people really love him. Having a young and smiling player like him is always important for the club.”

“I never make any promises for two reasons: the first is that I don’t do everything in this club; the second one is that I don’t want to make any promises that I can’t keep later.”

“All I care about is today. Kylian is very special, he is only 20 and he is already at the top of the world.”

“Being Kylian Mbappe is a huge responsibility all by itself. Apart from that, the difficult side of this is what Mbappe has become in the world of football.”

“But Kylian manages this perfectly. He had an incredible 2016-17 season at Monaco, then he dealt with a major transfer.”

Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid, La Liga, Sevilla

Sergio Ramos set for Real Madrid return at Sevilla

Real Madrid look set to welcome back captain Sergio Ramos in time for tonight's showdown with the high-flying Sevilla in La Liga.

“He then played the World Cup on the next year and won it. If you take a look at the careers of great players from now or the past, you realize that each of them played in several positions.”

“This was the case with Zidane. Cristiano Ronaldo played on the left, then on the right. now he is a striker and he also plays a little behind.”

“Ronaldinho also played everywhere. Neymar and Messi have changed a lot over the years as well. A player like Mabppe can do whatever he wants, he can play almost anywhere.”

“He has a lot of quality: he is fast, he is agile, he has amazing technique, he has great striking skills, he is smart, he can position himself on the pitch, and he knows how to create spaces. He has everything,” he concluded.

Let’s do the math with what Leonardo said.

If we step back for a second and analyze what Leonardo really said, it all comes down to when Kylian Mbappe’s contract expires.

The Brazilian sporting director said he doesn’t want to make any promises that he won’t be able to keep, that’s the first clue right there.

Mbappe’s contract expires in 2022, he signed for five years when he arrived in 2017. This means that Paris Saint-Germain will have to sell him in the summer of 2020 if they want to make money out of his transfer.

If they wait for Mbappe to leave after the summer of 2021, that means he can leave to any club of his choosing as a free agent.

If this happens, PSG won’t get any money out of one of their best players. We all know that Nasser Al-Khelaifi wouldn’t let one of his players leave if the club wasn’t getting anything out of the deal.

Even though we are positive that he will try to convince Mbappe to stay at the club for his whole career, we also know that the player’s mind is set on Real Madrid.

We will only get Kylian for one more season in Paris, then we will see him wearing white and playing under Zinedine Zidane as his new manager.

Watching the young Frenchman playing at Real Madrid is only a matter of time.
