Hearts manager Craig Levein insists his team will get better following a poor run of results which has seen them win only one of their last eight games.

The Jam Tarts suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Rangers on Sunday, which makes six consecutive defeats on the bounce, but Levein believes the will get better when Christophe Berra returns from injury.

“We were much better than we have been,” he said, according to Daily Mail.

“I thought Sean Clare is getting closer to what we think he is, Arnaud Djoum was excellent again, Christophe – I can’t speak highly enough of him after his performance after the amount of time he’s been out. He was excellent. We miss him and you saw what a difference he makes.”

“We had a lot of good chances and Allan McGregor was good in the first half.”

Gerrard says Rangers will not win the Scottish league

The Rangers manager didn't like what he saw after a goalless draw against St. Johnstone today in the Scottish Premier League.

“We were much better than what we have been lately and I take great encouragement from that. I just wish we had got the tangible reward of getting something from the match.”

Meanwhile, Levein also criticized the performance of referee Bobby Madden during his team’s loss to Rangers.

“The funny thing is that he (Madden) said before the game and warned us that we are not allowed to look at any reviews of situations that have happened in the match and complain about them to him.” Levein said.

“I asked him: ‘The fact you are warning us – does that mean you’re planning on making loads of mistakes?’ And he laughed. No wonder.”
