Bayer Leverkusen has confirmed that Kai Havertz’s future at the club will be reviewed and a decision made in the summer.
Havertz has been a target for a number of Europe’s elite, with Liverpool and Bayern Munich leading the chase.
The young German forward is rumored to be Jurgen Klopp’s next big-money signing. While no emerging prodigious German talent escapes the radar of the Bavarian giants.
Leverkusen has done well to hold on to the player as long as they have.
Sporting Director and German World Cup winner Rudi Voller insist that the club kept he player to help his development.
Voller insists huge money has already been turned down for the player’s benefit.
However, he is under no illusion that the inevitable is approaching. Speaking to ‘100% Bundesliga – Football at Nitro’ he is confident that the club is in a strong position contractually with the player. But Voller admits his future will be looked at at the end of the season.
“I am glad that we still held on to Kai Havertz this year.”
“We’ll see how it looks in summer. He still has a contract until 2022 – these are, of course, the classic facts.”
“There was already interest in the summer, but we told him that it would be good for him to stay with us for another year.”
“That was the right decision.”
