Lewandowski says cup title is a farewell to Robben, Ribery, and Rafinha

Bayern Munich won a domestic double in the season the three legends are set to leave the German Bundesliga club.

Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery, and Rafinha have said goodbye to Bayern Munich with style.

The three footballers won the German Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, to lift a domestic double and say farewell to their old club.

“We had just one aim today, the cup triumph,” said teammate Robert Lewandowski to the club’s official website.

“A final like this is always nice, the atmosphere is special,” added Franck Ribery.

“What we’ve achieved together will remain for a lifetime, I’ll never forget it. It’s been a great 12 years.”

“The team has achieved great things,” head coach Niko Kovac said.

“It’s been an exhausting season. We’ll surely need two or three weeks now to unwind, to relax and to reflect on it.”

He added: “Of course you feel joy, you’re looking forward to enjoyable hours with friends, acquaintances, and relatives.”

“We’ve had a great week,” chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said.

“We won the German championship last Saturday, and then the double on top. We’ve rounded off a season with which we can be very satisfied.”

He concluded: “I’d like to warmly congratulate the team and everybody who has contributed to it.”
