Victor Lindelof could match the record set by Virgil van Dijk for Liverpool last season.
Liverpool signed Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in the winter of 2018. The Reds paid €88 million for Van Dijk making him the most expensive defender of all time. Since then, the Dutchman has been a dominating figure in the Liverpool backline.
His record broke when Manchester United signed Harry Maguire earlier this season. And recently, another one of his record looks to be at risk by another Manchester United player.
During the 2018-19 season, van Dijk completed the entire season without allowing any player to dribble past him. After displaying such a wonderful run of form, and keeping in mind his other exploits, Van Dijk finished second in the Ballon d’Or rankings only behind Lionel Messi.
Unfortunately, he failed to maintain his streak after he was unable to stop Arsenal forward Nicolas Pepe from going past him.
As Manchester United’s official Facebook page claims, Vincent Lindelof too has not allowed anyone past him so far this season.
Lindelof has played 21 Premier League games for Man United this campaign. The season is still a long way to go but considering the Red Devils’s goal conceding statistic, Lindelof’s achievement is still pretty impressive.
