Vincent Lindelof has been named Sweden’s best player for a second time in a row.

Man United defender Victor Lindelof has been voted as the best player in Sweden for the second successive time.

Lindelof is the second person to break Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s dominance after Andreas Granqvist. Ibrahimovic won the award for ten times in a row from 2007 to 2016. But the LA Galaxy star’s seemingly never-ending run was ended by Andreas Granqvist in 2017.

Lindelof, speaking to TV4 as reported by DailyMail, expressed his delight upon receiving the honor. The former Benfica man also showed optimism saying he hoped to continue winning awards for his nation.

“It is hard to explain. I am very happy and proud. Now it will be even more hard work, I have many years left in my career and may be able to take home some more.

“As a player, you don’t go around thinking about it, you just do the best for your team, then you become happy when they call and announce that you’ve got the prize. It means a lot.”

Victor Lindelof played a key role in confirming Sweden’s place in the EURO 2020. Sweden currently sit second in their group, alongside Spain, Romania, Norway, and Faroe Islands. The Swedes will face off against Romania in the weekend.
