Lionel Messi is set to be offered a lifelong contract by the Barcelona president
FC Barcelona have not been the same since Lionel Messi’s arrival in the first team. The Argentine has implanted his name in the hearts of the Barcelona fans. With ten La Ligas, four Champions Leagues, five Ballon d’Or awards, and over 600 goals, it’s safe to say that Messi is Barcelona’s greatest ever player.
The 32-year old’s current contract will keep him at Camp Nou until 2021. In order to honor Leo Messi’s immense contribution, Bartomeu has planned to give him an indefinite contract.
“In the next two or three seasons our leader will continue to be Leo Messi,” Bartomeu told Marca.
“But it’s true that there are other young players who come, players who come from abroad, but also players who come from La Masia.
“We’re very happy because we are preparing for the era after Messi.”
“I always make a comparison with Pelé,” said Bartomeu.

“Pelé was a man from only one club. I have no doubt that after Messi ends his career as a footballer, he will remain linked to this club for the rest of his life,” Bartomeu continued.
“Leo Messi’s contract ends in 2021. But it will surely be the will of all parties involved, if they feel strong and ambitious, to extend this contract indefinitely,” concluded Bartomeu.
