Jack Butland is reportedly on the verge of joining Liverpool for a record-breaking £40m transfer from Stoke City this summer
Butland has had another impressive season at Stoke and is expected to be the number 1 choice in goal for England during the summer’s World Cup in Russia.
The Mirror has reported that the England international is excited at the prospect of working under Jurgen Klopp and is believed to be uninterested in a potential move to Arsenal.
Due to his strong performances, and the interest that Butland has gathered, Stoke are reportedly resigned to losing their number one in the summer. But they are insisting on a £40m price tag, which would exceed the £34.7m fee Manchester City paid for Ederson last summer from Benfica.
AS Roma’s Alisson was believed to be a contender for a move to Anfield, but Liverpool are in favour of signing Butland due to his already extensive experience in the Premier League.
After losing his place in the team, Simon Mignolet is expected to leave Liverpool in the summer with Loris Karius expected to remain and provide back-up to Butland.
