Former Liverpool player Phil Babb believes Jurgen Klopp’s side are lacking cover at center-back and suggests Kalidou Koulibaly is the dream signing.
Phil Babb struggles to find fault with Liverpool as he follows his old side’s progress. But believes they could do with a little cover at center-back.
Retried Republic of Ireland international Babb enjoyed five years at the Anfield based club. Since hanging up his boots he has ventured into the agent’s side of the game, as well as broadcasting.
Babb feels he has had the opportunity to watch the club he still supports closely. While he admits they are strong, he has some concerns, but also the solutions too.
Speaking to Gambling.com Babb admits there is not much improvement needed.
“As a fan and a broadcaster, I wonder where Klopp can improve the squad?”
“I’d probably say they might want to look at bringing in another top center-half.”
“That’s only because of the injury records of [Joe] Gomez, [Joel] Matip and Dejan Lovren.”
“Virgil van Dijk is like a thoroughbred horse, very rarely gets injured.”
“If he could have another world-class center-half constantly alongside side him that would bolster Liverpool.”
He doubts if they would and insists there is no room for improvement elsewhere.
“I can’t see them doing that, but it might be in the back of their minds”
“You look at the full-backs – no need to strengthen there.”
“In midfield, there’s a plethora of talent all capable of adapting to the tactics suited to each game.”
“Up top, the front three speak for themselves.”
He knows who the ideal candidate for the job is too.
