We need to talk about the reason Liverpool FC fans are going crazy about Kylian Mbappe coming to the club in the summer of 2020.

It’s no secret that Kylian Mbappe is arguably the most coveted player in the world at the moment, the Liverpool fans are going crazy over the chance of signing him in 2020.

You may think that the French youngster has all the intention to sign a new contract for Real Madrid next summer, but the reality is that nothing is certain right now.

Kylian Mbappe will do his best to finish the season in the best possible manner at PSG, this might even mean he could win the UEFA Champions League in May.

After that full season is over, the time will come for him to make a decision about his future because he isn’t planning to stay in Ligue 1 for another year.

Regardless of how much the PSG owners force him to stay in France, there is no way that Mbappe will agree to remain in one of the weakest competitions in European football.

If his club wins the tournament again this year, that will mean that Mbappe will have four consecutive Ligue 1 titles if we count the one he won at AS Monaco in 2017.

We know that Kylian is eager to play in different competitions, and we all believed that his next destination would be Spain.

But we recently saw a development in England that has all the Liverpool fans gushing with the idea of having the youngster on their side.

To those who are not aware of what just happened, New Balance just lost a trial against Liverpool and they stopped being the main sponsor for the Reds.

This new development at the club gave Nike a chance to come and take the spoils of war, they became the new brand that will wear Liverpool starting next season.

This gave the Reds’ fans a chance to dream a little bit, they started making the hashtag #Mbappe2020 spread like wildfire on Twitter.

Although this is a joke, the fans seem to have a lot of fun speculating about the chances of watching Kylian play alongside the likes of Bobby Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane.

But on a more serious note, this should be regarded as a complete power move from the English club.

This is a sign that power is already shifting in European football, the clubs from Spain are no longer the ones who are making all the major transfer decisions.

The best players in the world are already looking towards the isles and they are excited about the success they can get if they play in English football.

At this stage in the season, that hashtag is no more than a prank but things can change fast in football.

We all know how volatile the transfer market has become over the last five years, Nike can easily sway Mbappe to make a different choice about his future if they wanted.

Real Madrid and Barcelona also want Kylian Mbappe.

Apart from the wet dream that all Liverpool fans have, there are other clubs that will be after Kylian Mbappe next summer.

PSG won’t be able to stop at least one of them from convincing the youngster that he needs to leave.

We’ve already been discussing the possibility of Real Madrid making a big move, but the other club has enough power to also pay for this player.

FC Barcelona has been very quiet about their intentions for next summer for a simple reason, they might be planning a sneak attack for Mbappe.

With the Neymar deal completely out of the question after last summer’s fiasco. The Catalan club’s board is aware that Kylian Mbappe is the only player who can possibly replace Lionel Messi when the Argentine decides to call it quits.

The French forward has been the most consistent player of the last five years with Leo and Ronaldo by his side, and he isn’t showing any signs of stopping.

We won’t know if Liverpool will even try to get into this negotiation next summer, but they sure as hell became a contender to possible sign the young player after this deal with Nike became official.

This goes in the same vein of what Fenway Sports Group has done with other sports teams in the past, they did it with the Boston Red Sox and they are also doing it with Liverpool.

Soon, the Reds will be one of Europe’s most preferred destinations for all the great players in the world.
