Liverpool is a far cry from the fluid ruthless side that has dominated the Premier League but is still getting the job done beating Aston Villa two-nil.

Jurgen Klopp’s’ Liverpool side came into the game against relegation-threatened Aston Villa on the back of four-nil drubbing from Manchester City. This was following their crowning as Premier League champions.

While they labored to victory over an Aston Villa side stuck in a relegation battle, they ultimately got the job done.

While their defense was far more solid than the other night against City, the front line was still coughing and spluttering its way to the goal.

Despite the title being in the bag, only Roberto Firmino was rested from the starting line up from the prolific attacking trident.

It was not until the 77th minute though that the breakthrough came.

Naby Keita’s cross found Sadio Mane who smashed the ball home to give the Anfield side the lead.

The 85th minute saw Klopp introduce academy prospect, Curtis Jones.

The teenager repaid his manager’s faith in him when he celebrated the signing of a new contract with the new champions by scoring a great volley only four minutes after coming on the field.

Jones’ goal secured all three points and maintained there 100% home record in the league for the season.
