While the Reds don’t need to go big this summer, Jurgen Klopp is reportedly keen to sign Ousmane Dembele in a bid to add depth to the squad.
According to Daily Star, Liverpool are looking into the possibility of signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona. The Frenchman arrived at Camp Nou from Borussia Dortmund a few years back in a big money move.
However, things haven’t worked out for the speedy winger who hasn’t settled in Catalonia. Reports of indiscipline and inconsistency have seen the player’s future always remain a big question every season.
And it appears that Liverpool could be willing to offer the World Cup winner a route out of Spain. While the club boasts excellent wingers in the shape of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane, Jurgen Klopp is keen on adding more competition for places in the starting XI.
Moreover, the club has funds available in the transfer market and the German intends to use them where necessary.
While Barcelona are not that hell-bent on letting him go, Ousmane Dembele will be allowed to leave if a club is willing to part ways with a lot of cash for the winger.
Initially, it was thought that Neymar’s arrival would depend on Dembele going the other way. Before that, it was thought that the club would sell the Frenchman in order to raise funds for Antoine Griezmann or Matthijs de Ligt. The latter isn’t coming but Griezmann will sign with or without Dembele in the squad.
However, the club doesn’t see Griezmann’s arrival as a hurdle for Dembele. Instead, the Atletico Madrid man’s arrival is going to add more depth to the squad.
Bayern Munich are also interested in signing Dembele. The Bavarians have lost the services of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben and see Ousmane Dembele as the player who could adequately replace either one of them.
