The Bayern Munich legend and one of the ultimate left-back players out there noticed similarities in his and Lucas Hernandez’s approach to football.

Former Bayern Munich player Bixente Lizarazu did not shy away from complimenting Lucas Hernandez and the way he plays the game. In fact, Lizarazu mentioned that Hernandez plays a style of football he finds both familiar and respectable.

In addition, Lizarazu confessed that Hernandez shows a skill for the game similar to Bizente himself.

The six-time Bundesliga title winner has also won five DFB Cups and two Champion’s League finals with Bayern. Among other things, he also represents one of the club’s most appreciated pillars. Today, Lizarazu works as a host and commentator on both TV and radio and had plenty to say on the topic of Hernandez.

“I see a lot of left-and-right-backs, who have problems in defence and are only good going forward,” Lizarazu stated, according to BundesLiga.

“But Lucas Hernandez is good in defence and in the attack. He is very strong, and has a lot of potentials,” he added.

“Bayern have made a good choice. He plays how I used to back in the day.”

Bayern will formally welcome Hernandez on 1 July, and will likely spend 5 years with the club. Presently, Hernandez remained injured, a fact that did get Bayern to second-guess their decision.

At the Bavarian club, the French native will meet up with residing teammates Benjamin Pavard, Corentin Tolisso, and Kingsley Coman.

Thus far part of Atletico Madrid, Hernandez scored 11 appearances. He also won two titles, in the UEFA Europa League and the Super Cup, each. The latest Bayern addition has also played nationally, defending the French flag colors on 15 occasions thus far.

To Hernandez, a move of this magnitude doesn’t come as often as anyone would like. Hopefully, the rising star can show himself worthy of earning a first-team spot and shine during the upcoming season.
