Arsenal U-21 coach Freddie Ljungberg insists Laurent Koscielny just suffered a cramp from his appearance for the youth side on Tuesday night
The French defender continued his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon by managing 85 minutes of football before limping off at Portsmouth.
It marked Koscielny’s second game in the space of a week after featuring for 45 minutes of action for the U23s.
However, Tuesday night’s game came to a worrying end as Koscielny limped off towards the end of the match.
But Ljungberg insists it was only a cramp and that the player himself was not concerned.
“It was a bit sad [because] he signalled to me before their goal he had a cramp,” Ljungberg told Islington Gazette.
“I told him to go down, He wasn’t injured. It was just a cramp, but unfortunately he couldn’t move.
“We understood that he wasn’t worried at all, it was just some cramp.”
Arsenal, who will face Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight, later confirmed that Koscielny is fine.
