AS Monaco star Rony Lopes has revealed his desire to return to Manchester City in the future after a promising season in Ligue 1
Having never made a single Premier League appearance for City, Lopes chose to leave the club for Monaco for a £9m transfer back in 2015.
During his time at the Etihad Stadium, Lopes was named as the Academy Player of the Year and provided two assists for both Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo in their 3-0 win over West Ham in the League Cup semi-final.
After a loan spell with Lille, the 22 year-old returned to Monaco in the summer and has now gone on to score 11 goals with 5 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions. While happy with the Ligue 1 side, Lopes refused to rule out a potential reunion with Bernardo Silva at City.
“I’m happy for Bernardo, he’s a friend and seeing what he’s been doing in recent games with Manchester City is a very good thing,” said the Portuguese, according to Manchester Evening News.
“A return to City? Sure I would like to go back, but I am focused on Monaco. I’m fine here.
“I’m very happy for him and I hope he’ll continue to do beautiful things there.”
Monaco currently sit in second place in the Ligue 1 standings and are currently 14 points behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain.
