Sevilla beat Mallorca 2-0 today as Julen Lopetegui’s men are already a serious candidate for the top four spots, perhaps even a title challenge.
This now means that Sevilla are just two points away from the top two.
However, Video Assistant Referee played a big part in the team’s win today.
It ruled out Mallorca’s goal before awarding Lopetegui’s side with a penalty later on.
The manager was quite happy with the system:
“From the bench what you do is to pray, because you don’t know what has happened many times,” Lopetegui said as reported by Marca.
“VAR is for that. It corrected two situations and has dealt out justice.”
Sevilla roll on as they finish the year in style.
Lopetegui will look to bring in a striker in order to complete the squad this January.
