Real Madrid beat Julen Lopetegui-led Sevilla today in a highly-controversial matchup that saw VAR making some crucial decisions down the line.
VAR overruled Sevilla’s first goal of the match and Lopetegui was visibly upset.
It’s hard to blame him, too! Luuk de Jong’s overruled goal wasn’t something you see every day.
But, even with refereeing against them at Santiago Bernabeu, Sevilla did manage to score one.
However, Casemiro’s brace kept all three points in Madrid.
Lopetegui was vocal with his discontent with VAR after the match.
“I really don’t understand, unless someone can help me understand, why the goal was ruled out.
“I think it’s a massive error,” Lopetegui claimed.
“We deserved something more than a defeat.”
This result saw Real Madrid take the top of La Liga.
However, Barcelona are expected to rail through Granada tomorrow evening, as the battle for La Liga goes on.
