Sevilla would have to put on their best performance if they are to beat the in-form AS Roma, suggests Julen Lopetegui.

Sevilla will host AS Roma later tonight in a match that will decide which team proceeds into the quarter-final stage of the Europa League.

The home side did considerably well in the group stage of the competition, winning all but one of their matches to top their group table. They also finished La Liga season in fine form, enjoying a 17-game unbeaten run to secure a fourth-place finish.

Other than showing defensive frailties, the visitors managed to fare well in the 2019/20 Serie A season as well. They have won seven of their last eight games, including a 3-1 victory over Juventus.

Julen Lopetegui is well well aware of the dangers the upcoming opponents are capable of presenting and wants his players to be on their toes.

“Our rivals have a positive streak, they have a great squad and have ended up being the most in-form team in Serie A,” Lopetegui told the press, as per Marca.

“We are very excited [for the game] and we have to play our best. It is like a final and we have to give everything.

“In this period, everything that happens is circumstances that are changing, and that forces you to adapt. We have to adapt and not look backward. We’ve always had a great mindset.”
