Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira loves the song that the fans have made for him
The Uruguayan midfielder arrived at the Emirates Stadium in July in a reported deal of £26.4m from Serie A side Sampdoria.
Despite having a low-key start, Torreira has emerged as a key member of the Arsenal squad this season and has been compared to club legends Patrick Vieira and Gilberto Silva.
The 22-year-old’s impressive displays for the Gunners have made him a firm fan favourite with a song being made in his honour.
“It’s incredible. Every time I hear it, I feel so proud,” Torreira told Arsenal.com.
“It gives me a real energy boost and that strength to go after every ball.
“I can only really say thank you to the fans. They’re incredible and fill out every stadium, whether it’s home or away.
“They’re singing for the whole 90 minutes and that’s massive for the team because it makes us feel that we have their support.
‘When we’re out there playing, we want to do our best to entertain them.”
Torreira has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal this season with two goals and two assists added in the process.
Unai Emery’s side will take a daunting trip to Anfield this Saturday for a Premier League match against leaders Liverpool.
