Lukaku edging closer to Manchester United departure

Romelu Lukaku was absent during the club’s 4-0 win over Leeds United and it appears that the player is likely to be leaving soon.

Once Romelu Lukaku leaves, Manchester United will have more work to do in the summer.

Apart from making Ole Gunnar Solskjaer happy, the club has to manage the varying moods of a few players who don’t really want to stay at the club. Next season, the club is not going to play in the Champions League.

Players who have not been involved a lot during Solksjaer’s early days at the club are likely to leave Old Trafford. Moreover, there are players who just want to leave rather than wait for the club to return to its past best.

While Paul Pogba is definitely one of those players, the same can also be said about Romelu Lukaku. The striker made a big money move to Old Trafford a couple of years back but has really struggled to win over fans or his manager.

The Belgium international is likely to play second fiddle to Marcus Rashford next season. Lukaku clearly doesn’t want that and would instead prefer a move away from the club.

Throughout the summer, Inter Milan have been very keen on bringing the striker to San Siro. Antonio Conte is a huge admirer of the striker.

And after sitting out the game against Leeds, it is clear that Lukaku may not remain a United player for long.

According to Sky Sports News, Lukaku missing the game is the first step of a process that will lead to his departure. While Pogba was named in the starting lineup, Lukaku missed out due to injury.

The player has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Lombardy giants. And it is quite clear that Lukaku sitting out the game in Perth is a sign that his career with the Red Devils may be all but over.
