The Belgian national team coach believes that Romelu Lukaku should seek an exit from Manchester United this summer.
Romelu Lukaku has not really been able to justify the hefty price United paid to land him from Everton a few summers ago. The striker has failed to develop into an elite striker his early potential promised.
And it appears that the big Belgian is also not too keen on staying at Old Trafford. A few days ago, Lukaku admitted that he could be in for a busy summer. Rumors have linked the striker to Antonio Conte’s revolution at Internazionale.
And with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer exploring other options during his daily summer shopping visits, Lukaku might be keen on leaving.
Even if the residents of Old Trafford are unable to find a suitable replacement, Lukaku is likely to struggle displacing Marcus Rashford.
As reported by Standard, via Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws, Roberto Martinez feels that his player could do with a move away from the club. Martinez says that such a decision would be great for both parties.
“It is clear that he has to leave Manchester United,” Martinez told Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws.
“It would be a good thing for both parties. It is now important that Romelu finds the right club.”
And while Inter are interested in Lukaku, they haven’t made any official contact with Manchester United so far. Conte is apparently keeping his options open with the likes of Edin Dzeko among candidates for the role at the Giuseppe Meazza.
For Inter though, a new striker is definitely an important part of their summer shopping extravaganza. With the future of star player Mauro Icardi up in the air, the Nerazzurri would be in dire need of a proven striker should the Argentine decide to end his association with the club.
