Romelu Lukaku has his eyes set on Thierry Henry’s Premier League goal tally after surpassing idol Didier Drogba’s record
The Manchester United striker’s effort at Watford last month was his 105th goal in the English top-flight, which is one more than Drogba’s.
Lukaku, who revealed he gets advice from old Chelsea teammate, has now turned his attention towards Arsenal legend and former Belgium assistant coach Henry’s goal tally in the all-time league standings.
“When that happened he sent me four cups [for his four Premier League titles] on Snapchat! We speak every day and it’s really nice because he’s been part of the process,” Lukaku told the club website on Drogba’s reaction to passing him.
“Now I’m talking to Thierry Henry saying ‘I’m coming for you’ on 175! I’m laughing saying it to him but, deep down, inside he knows I’m dead serious! “
Lukaku joined United from Everton last year for £75m and has since managed 31 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions under former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils will be back in action on Saturday away to Lukaku and Mourinho’s old club Chelsea.
