Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed the club tried to sign some big names..with Juventus duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs De Ligt among those names.
If all wishes came true…Lyon might have been something else today if they managed to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and a host of other names.
Juventus face Lyon in the Champions League round o f 16 and as expected, everyone praises the Portuguese ahead when they are about to witness his genius.
Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with Juventus, Lyon president revealed some big names the club tried to sign in the past.
In the interview with Tuttosport via France Football, Jean-Michel Aulas said:
“I was set to be CR7’s first president. During a youth tournament in Portugal, we came up against Cristiano Ronaldo.”
“He was 15, 16 years old and was already very good. I tried to buy him from Sporting Portugal, but I did not succeed.”
“In recent years, we have also followed Matthijs de Ligt closely, but he was too expensive for Lyon.”
He also revealed the club tried to sign Adrien Rabiot, Blaise Matuidi and Mauro Icardi.
Imagine if Lyon managed to sign Ronaldo alongside a few of these players..we can only dream of how star-studded the club would have been.
