Sevilla manager Pablo Machin believes their Europa League clash with Akhisar Belediyespor could have gone either way

Los Rojiblancos scrapped through from a challenging encounter at Turkey with a 3-2 win in Group J.

Nolito gave the visitors a 12th-minute lead before Luis Muriel doubled their advantage heading into the break.

But Akhisar were in no mood to give up on their home turf and soon pecked a goal back through Manu after 52 minutes.

The hosts blew a golden opportunity to equalise when Guray Vural hit the woodwork from a penalty following Sergi Gomez’s sending off.

However, a 78th-minute strike from Onur Ayik completed Akhisar’s comeback with the scoreline level at 2-2.

Although a late Ever Banega penalty gave Sevilla all three points.

Arsenal came back from a goal down to secure their place in the next round of the Europa League.

“Today took guts. It looked simple what we were doing but nobody gave us anything,” Machin told the club website.

“Today there were moments which we didn’t handle well and came very close to paying for.”

Sevilla will next host Espanyol in La Liga on Sunday.
