Madrid’s squad missing quite a few starters against Fuenlabrada

Zinedine Zidane announced Real Madrid’s squad for tonight’s game against Fuenlabrada and there are a lot of surprising names on it. Seems like the French manager wants to rest some of his biggest stars while making sure young Castilla players get some playing time along with valuable experiences as well.

Zidane’s decision to rest some of his key men for this trip to the third-tier side can be understood as Real will have far more important games with more powerful opponents in the upcoming days, especially the Champions League game against Tottenham.

The Frenchman decided to give his captain a day off, among his two best midfielders and to his Portuguese superstar as well.

Obviously, Real Madrid’s squad is one of the strongest ones in today’s football world, however if their upcoming players underperform tonight, they could be in serious trouble, especially if they would conceive a shameful defeat.

Sergio Ramos, Raphael Varane, Isco, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo are among those given a breather, while Keylor Navas, Gareth Bale and Mateo Kovacic are out through injury, Marca understands.

The players who can expect some playing time tonight are: Kiko Casilla, Moha Ramos, Jesus Vallejo, Nacho Fernandez, Theo Hernandez, Achraf Hakimi, Alvaro Tejero, Luismi Quezada, Manu Hernando, Marcos Llorente, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Franchu, Cristo, Lucas Vazquez and Borja Mayoral.

Zidane, who was named coach of the year by FIFA will surely put together a tactics that fit both his first-team players and Castilla’s promising young lads.

After tonight’s Copa del Rey clash, Los Blancos will face Girona away from home in La Liga before moving on to the bigger task on hand, which is the CL game against Tottenham in London. To succeed there, Zidane needs his superstars to be fresh and ready to go.
