The Red Devils defender has dismissed reports over a power struggle with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has denied reports of a rift between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo, insisting the squad is âunited and focusedâ.
A report from the Mirror on Thursday night claimed Maguire and Ronaldo were embroiled in a âpower struggleâ.
The English outlet stated the pair held talks with interim manager Ralf Rangnick about the captaincy, and that it was âinevitableâ that Ronaldo will replace a struggling Maguire as captain.
Apparently, Ronaldoâs huge influence in the dressing room – especially after Rangnick asked him to mentor the young players – has left Maguire feeling âincreasingly underminedâ.

‘We are united and focused’
Reacting to this report on Twitter on Friday morning, however, Maguire denied it altogether.
âIâve seen a lot of reports about this club that arenât true and this is another,â said the skipper, who quote tweeted the original article.
âNot going to start posting about everything that is written, but I needed to make this one clear. We are united and focused on Sunday. Enjoy your day everyone.â

Maguire has held the captainâs armband at Old Trafford since January 2020, after Ashley Young joined Inter Milan.
Meanwhile, Maguire and Ronaldo’s Manchester United teammate Marcus Rashford has also recently rubbished reports of a rift in the squad.
âAre we just making it up as we go along now then?â the England international posted on Twitter.
âPlease stop looking for divides.â
Ronaldo and Manchester United return to action on Sunday for a trip to Leeds United in the Premier League.
