Gustavo Maia is apparently already learning Spanish as he ready’s himself for an imminent move to Barcelona.
Sao Paulo’s teenage winger Maia is so confident he is on the verge of a transfer to Barcelona, he has already started learning Spanish.
The 19-year-old Brazilian has been on the Catalonian giant’s radar for some time. So much so Barca has apparently paid Sao Paulo one million Euros just to have the first refusal on the youngster.
Now according to his agent, a move to Europe for the prodigious talent is imminent.
Danilo Silva told Radio Transamerica:
“We are sure Barcelona will complete the purchase.”
“There was already a signal from the club and on Monday Maia started private Spanish lessons to get more prepared.”
“Other clubs came to us in the last few months but he never had any doubt, he always wanted Barcelona.”
However, Sao Paulo is less convinced that a deal is so close with club director Alexandre Passaro insisting a deadline to exercise the option is very close.
“Whether he will go to Barcelona or not, we can’t be sure, because they have until June 30 to notify us and they still haven’t.”
“The last time I spoke to them they said everything is very uncertain.”
