Highly-rated Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Weigl is set to be a transfer target for Manchester City during the upcoming summer transfer window

The 22 year-old has impressed since joining Dortmund from Munich 1860 back in 2015 and has made 110 appearances for the first-team and scored 2 goals for the Bundesliga side. Weigl’s performances have also seen him called up to the Germany national team and has gone on to represent the senior team five times so far.

It is believed that Yaya Toure will be on his way out of the Eithad in the summer with Pep Guardiola having publicly questioned the 34 year-old’s motivation this season, after being impressed with Leroy Sane’s attitude of late.

As reported on the Daily Mirror, Guardiola has expressed an interest in the young German and has previously sent City scouts to observe Weigl’s progress this season and the Spaniard is now believed to be ready to launch a bid for Weigl in the summer. Dortmund have reportedly told City that they will be expecting a €40m fee, before any transfer can be conducted.
