Benjamin Mendy says Manchester City are looking forward to facing Real Madrid in the Champions League.
After the recent slip up against Crystal Palace, Man City find themselves 13 points short of the top spot and have all but given up on their chances on the Premier League title.
Man City also have the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup to look forward to, although none of them would hold as much weight as the league title. Also, Pep Guardiola can now totally turn his focus on winning the Champions League, something which steals the shine from his trophy cabinet.
Even Man City’s European success would come easy as they go up against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.
But fullback Benjamin Mendy is confident that Man City can leave their domestic failure behind in the match against Real Madrid. Mendy also acknowledged the gravity of the game saying he was excited about it.
“That will be another kind of game – Champions League, big game,” Mendy said as per Goal.
“Every game is big, but everyone knows that this game will be watched by everyone. So, mentally you have a feeling, the atmosphere, how you come to the game puts you on fire, excited.”
