Odion Ighalo worked hard to be where he is now and is truly deserving of playing for Manchester United, says his agent Patrick Bastianelli.

Eyebrows were raised when Manchester United snapped up a move for 30-year old Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua in the deadline day of the winter transfer window.

Ighalo marked his Premier League debut with a goal against Everton back in 2015 after he helped Watford earn a promotion the same year. He went on to score 33 goals for the club before eventually signing for Chinese side Changchun Yatai in 2017.

The Nigerian has already scored four goals in eight games at Old Trafford and is starting to silence his doubters. He has also reportedly done enough to convince Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to turn his loan move into a permanent one.

And his agent Patrick Bastianelli feels playing for Manchester United is a reward for Ighalo’s hard work. He told Tuttosport: “Odion is reaping what he deserves after many sacrifices, after many years around Europe.

“Manchester is a prize for everything he’s shown in recent years.”

“It’s part of his character, of his great seriousness. He scored many goals. He always has a positive attitude. Odion is a person who always looks ahead, always in a positive way.”

“It was also exciting for us to see his reaction, the happiness in his eyes. Couldn’t believe it…”
