Manchester United record their second successive draw in the Premier League against Aston Villa.

Scoreline: Manchester United 2-2 Aston Villa
Goalscorers: Heaton (OG), Lindelof | Grealish, Mings

The Red Devils walked in the match having won all but one of their 24 Premier League home games against Aston Villa.

Just after ten minutes into the match, Aston Villa got their lead. El Ghazi’s cross from the right landed near Jack Grealish. The captain, after controlling the ball, curled it around De Gea who stood helpless as the ball found the back of his net.

That was El Ghazi’s last involvement as the winger took off with after feeling discomfort in his knee.

But the Red Devils did not go into the half time break before leveling the score. At the 42nd minute, Manchester United found the equalizer through an own goal. Andreas Periera’s cross met Rashford’s head, who thumped the ball into the goal. The ball stuck Tom Heaton before going in but United got their goal.

Within five minutes after the hour mark, Man Utd scored again. And this time through one of their own players. Fred’s cross deflected off to reach Victor Lindelof who calmly directed the ball home.

The Manchester United players had just finished celebrating their lead when Aston Villa shocked them. After initially being ruled out, Tyrone Mings’ volley was cleared by the VAR to stand.

A win could have taken Manchester United to the 5th position in the Premier League table. But Solskjaer’s soldiers had to settle for the 9th place after the draw.
