Bruno Fernandes could be on the verge of making a switch to England after reports claim that the Portugal international had agreed to a move to Old Trafford.

Respected Italian journalist Nicolo Schira claims that Bruno Fernandes has already agreed personal terms with Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had been following the Sporting midfielder for a long time and it appears that the club has taken a massive step towards bringing him to Old Trafford.

United have already had a bid rejected for the player since it fell way short of Sporting’s valuation of 60 million Euros.

As reported by the Express, Schira says that the player’s agent has already met with United and the club’s manager is keen to have this deal wrapped up as soon as possible.

“New contacts today between #ManchesterUnited and #BrunoFernandes’s agent,” said Schira on Twitter.

“#RedDevils have an agreement with them and now want to finalise the deal with #Sporting.”

Liverpool seem to have dropped out of the race. The Reds didn’t want to meet the playmaker’s valuation and now the road is open for United as they seek to sign a crucial element for next season.

Sporting CP manager, Marcel Keizer has already admitted that the club will find it difficult to hold on to Bruno Fernandes.

“I want Bruno Fernandes to stay, but everyone knows the current situation,” he said.

“It’s going to be difficult to keep him going, he’s on vacation, we’ll see what happens.”

Fernandes scored 20 league goals and provided 13 assists while playing as a central midfielder and is considered a rising star in Portuguese football. Moreover, with United clearly lacking in creativity, the Portuguese midfielder is going to add a lot of dynamism to the game.

The Red Devils clearly need someone like Fernandes in the squad and following the acquisition of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, the Portuguese is going to be a valuable addition.
