VAR rules again
For many football fans and players, VAR has ruined the beautiful game. It takes away the suspense and doesn’t always lead to the correct decisions.
And Chelsea had every right to feel hard done by when Harry Maguire escaped a red card for kicking Michy Batshuayi in the groin. Such behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated, but VAR officials didn’t do anything.
Perhaps the biggest blow, though, was when VAR ruled out substitute Kurt Zouma’s equaliser for Chelsea. It deemed that Cesar Azpilicueta pushed Brandon Williams. But replays later proved that Fred may have provoked the incident unintentionally.
The final nail in the coffin for Chelsea was Olivier Giroud’s disallowed 76th-minute goal. The striker’s foot was marginally offside before he headed in Mason Mount’s free-kick.
