One of Jose Mourinho’s favorite defenders last season has struggled with first-team football this year following some rather disappointing performance.

When Mourinho took charge of the Red Devils back in 2016, Eric Bailly was his biggest desire. Therefore, the management splashed out a fee of £30 million to clinch the deal.

However, Bailly’s displays this season have been far from promising, which is why he could leave the Old Trafford as early as January.

According to the British outlet Daily Star, the 24-year-old centre-back may join Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming January transfer window.

With the injury of Jan Verthongen and shaky performance of Davinson Sanchez, Mauricio Pochettino would like to hire another defender.

Although the Spurs’ defense conceded just seven goals in the opening eight Premier League fixtures, they failed to live up to expectations in the Champions League. Pochettino’s defense allowed Barcelona and Inter Milan to notch six goals combined, which is where the London outfit have to improve if looking to keep their chances of advancing to the knockout stage alive.

On the other hand, Arsenal are also reported to be keen on Bailly, with Unai Emery looking to reinforce his backline following the injuries of Sokratis and Laurent Koscielny.
