Manchester United are reportedly lining up a shock bid for the Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez, according to recent claims in England.

Manchester United are on the lookout for potential reinforcements, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes to bridge the gap on Liverpool and Manchester City ahead of 2020/21.

Despite landing Bruno Fernandes in January, the Red Devils are determined to inject additional quality and depth into a well-stacked midfield.

Also, the uncertainty surrounding the future of Paul Pogba forces Manchester United to explore various options on the market.

Express Sport now claims the Old Trafford outfit could hold talks with James Rodriguez’s representatives as early as next week to understand the feasibility of the deal.

Rodriguez has played second fiddle to Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo for the majority of the season and is ready to leave Real Madrid for regular first-team action.

Since he has entered the final year of his contract at the Bernabeu, Los Blancos will listen to offers in the region of £23million for their misfit.

The 29-year-old has never managed to settle himself in Madrid after completing a massive £63million switch from Monaco in 2014, having also spent two seasons on loan at Bayern Munich.

Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to follow the likes of West Ham’s Declan Rice and Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.
